Bob and Barbara Frick get ready to ride

Bob Frick: Powering the Cycle of Hope

Bob and Barbara Frick first learned of Habitat for Humanity East Bay through a former student of Bob’s at St. Mary’s college. Since then, Bob has been working tirelessly to support Habitat East Bay.

During the summer of 2007, Bob and Barbara Frick raised $5,000 to support Habitat East Bay while riding in the annual Habitat 500 in Minnesota. The 7-day ride was a complete success with 140 participants raising more than $322,000. In its 15 years, the Habitat 500 has helped to raise over $3 million to help Habitat affiliates across the United States. Bob decided that he would not stop with just 500 miles.

“We were so impressed by Habitat’s mission and principles that we wanted to do more and find a way to help our own East Bay community.”

Now, Bob at 71 years of age plans to ride his bicycle across the U.S. to raise awareness and money for Habitat for Humanity East Bay. In September 2008, Bob will dip his back tire in the Pacific Ocean in San Diego and begin a 3,300 mile journey across the southern part of the country towards St. Augustine, FL to raise awareness and money for the Habitat for Humanity East Bay.

To date, Bob raised $34,000 dollars from corporate and individual sponsors. As he moves across the country Bob will be stopping off at other affiliates to promote their efforts as well.
